DellBill's Mission Statement:
Become a primary resource for early learners studying vintage vacuum tube amplifiers while having fun and producing and presenting great content in an understandable fashion.
When I first began as a vacuum tube amplifer hobbyist I had absolutely zero knowledge about electronics of any kind. This was about eight years ago (it's 2024 now) and what I believed then but could do nothing about was there was little information for the complete novice hobbyist available. I realize now I was wrong then an there is in fact quite a bit of information available for beginners, if not complete novices, out there.
The issues with the currently available information for the novice and some begginer hobbyists, imho, are...
- How do you find it?
- Can you understand it?
- How do you know put it all together?
This is what DellBill.com is for. People with little knowledge but a lot of desire to learn about vacuum tube electronics. For the time being much of the content produced witll be aimed at understanding vacuum tube guitar and stereo amplifiers. Radios and other gear specific information will follow as the community builds, or at least that's the hope.
We aim to make sense by providing missing or difficult to understand conceptual as well as structural information on topics related to the various kinds of "sections" you typically find in guitar amplifiers and how they relate to each other. Guitar amplifiers have been chosen as the basis because they are the simplest kind of tube audio amplifier and that's what I know the most about. Also, amplifiers in general are used in a great variety of technical gear and contain some generally useful building blocks. Blocks and concepts found in, again, a lot of other kinds gear.
